Speedbowl announces 2019 Schedules

WATERFORD — An ambitious 2019 schedule that begins May 11-12 and includes 22 Saturday night events and 14 Wednesday night events has been announced by New London-Waterford Speedbowl General Manager Mike Serluca.
“We have worked hard to give the fans an exciting schedule that offers something different every week,” Serluca said. “Our weekly divisions remain the backbone of the Speedbowl. Throw in some great special events and some spectacular touring series and the Speedbowl will definitely be the place to be for great entertainment every Wednesday and Saturday. This schedule has something for everyone.”At the top of the list is the second annual Full Fendered Throwdown, presented by Belltown Motors Tire Service Center of East Hampton.
“This was one of our most popular events from last year,” Serluca said. “We are happy to bring it back in 2019 bigger and better than ever.”
The fastest night of the year returns Aug. 17 with “Wings ‘n’ Wheels,” featuring the Valenti Modified Racing Series, the 350 Super Mods, the NEMA Midgets, NEMA Lights, the SK Modifieds and SK Lights.
The brand new American Modified Tour will make three trips to the Speedbowl on June 8, Sept. 7 and Oct. 20 . The Valenti Series, now in its 16th year, will be in town to help open the season on May 11-12 in addition to its annual visit on Wings n Wheels.
“We also are happy to bring back some of the most popular events from past seasons,” Serluca said. “The Speedbowl is all about tradition and we are happy to keep those traditions alive.”
Those special events include Military Appreciation Night on May 18, Youth Sports Night on June 1, the Waterford 300 on July 6, Scout Night on July 20, Nostalgia Night on July 27 and the Bubby Brouwer Memorial on September 14.
The popular Hometown Nights are also returning to the schedule. On Jun 22, fans who reside in towns that start with the letter A-to-M will be admitted to the grandstand for half price. On June 29,fans who live in towns beginning with the letters N to Z will receive half price grandstand admission.
It all starts on May 11 and 12 for the two-day Budweiser Blastoff. The Valenti Racing Series, the American Three-Quarter Midget Racing Association, NEMA, the NEMA Lights, CT Pro 4 Modifieds and the Exit Realty Pro375 Sportsman Series will be staging features on May 11.
Taking over the stage on May 12 will be a 69-lap SK Modified feature, the SK Lights, the Sportsman, the Mini Stocks. the Speedbowl Trucks and Late Models.
“That will be a great way to start the season, but it doesn’t stop there,” Serluca said “Every week we will offer the best in short track racing.”
The season will wrap up Oct. 18-20 with the Speedbowl Championship Chiller.
Friday, Oct. 18, is set aside for practice. Features for the Speedbowl Trucks, Three Quarter Midgets, CT Pro 4 Modifieds, Granite State Pro Stock Series, NEMA, MEMA Lights, Exit Realty Pro Trucks and Exit Reality 375 Sportsman will take place Saturday October 19
Then on the final day of the season, the SK Modifieds will be featured for a 70 lap shootout. They will be joined by the American Modified Tour, the Sportsman, Mini Stocks and Late Models.
“And we still may be adding more attractions to the schedule,” Serluca said. “It all adds up to a great Saturday season at the ‘Bowl.”
Wild ‘n’ Wacky Wednesday kicks off its 2019 season on May 22 and will continue until Sept. 4. All weekly shows will include the Legends, the Super-X Cars, the X-Cars and the Bandoleros.
“Wednesday is a great night to come to the Speedbowl and have some fun,” Serluca said. “Our Wednesday competitors know how to race hard and entertain. There is no mid-week division in New England that gives you as much action for your money as Wild & Wacky Wednesday.
