FLANNERY HOLDS ON FOR SECOND MODIFIED WIN; BEAL WINS TRUCK BATTLE

FLANNERY HOLDS ON FOR SECOND MODIFIED WIN; BEAL WINS TRUCK BATTLE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FROM THE NEW LONDON-WATERFORD SPEEDBOWL

WATERFORD – Rob Janovic Jr was showing some speed all day and that translated into the early stages of the SK Modified® race, but Anthony Flannery was on a mission and made quick work of him. Adam Gada ran a solid second place between the two while Janovic had to hold off Todd Owen to keep his podium position. The caution flying on lap 12 allowed Flannery to keep his top spot, but Gada would get swallowed up by the field. This allowed Andrew Molleur to enter the conversation. Molleur methodically moved by Janovic with 15 laps to go, setting his sights on Flannery. Even with lapped traffic in the mix, Flannery was able to hold off inside and outside attacks from Molleur over the remainder of the event, earning him his second win of the season and denying Molleur from going back to back.

John Burnelle was having a career day in the SK Lights, giving Tyler Barry a run for his money at the drop of the green, but Nickolas Hovey had other plans for this race. Hovey worked his way into the lead and ran off leaving Barry, Zack Sangermano, and Evan Bourgeois to work it out among themselves. The moment Bourgeois made his way into second, the caution flew for a single car spin giving him a shot at Hovey. The two went after the lead in a respectable battle that ended with Hovey scoring his third win in his part time campaign.

After a week off the Street Stocks kicked the night off with Shawn Gaedeke launching off to a huge lead over Ike Chima. Ed Gertsch Jr made quick work of Chima and quickly set his sights on Gaedeke. The pair engaged in a side by side battle with Al Stone III, Norm Root III, and Aaron Plemons laying in wait. Stone got to Gertsch’s outside and put on a duel for the top spot until a caution with seven laps to go set up a thrilling finish. Stone shot off the front row with Root in his tire tracks. Root worked the outside to his advantage clearing Stone and gliding into his third win of the season.

The Trucks had Ryan Bannister and Troy Prentice lead the field to green but on lap 1 Bannister would find himself facing the wrong direction as they all entered turn 3. Prentice, now with Brad Strickland to his outside, kicked off the 25 lap throwdown with Strickland getting the advantage. Charles Beal and Tyler Chapman quickly picked off Prentice as Randy Burr followed. Beal had the field covered for the majority of the race until a caution with five to go changed the complexion of it all. Restart number 1, Chapman gets the jump on the outside earning the lead. Restart number 2, Chapman owns the restart from the outside groove. Restart number 3, Chapman gets the jump but Beal hangs in there, when on the final lap the two got together and Beal was able to score his second win of the season with Burr capitalizing on a second place finish. Chapman was able to hang on for third.

Wade Oemcke launched out the gate from his pole position in the Legend Cars to lead lap 1, but PJ Evans had other plans for the race. He quickly got out front and ran away like he was on a mission. Riley Paul and Dylan Freeman picked off Oemcke and engaged in a battle that would last the entirety of the 25 lap affair. They would trade positions for the runner up spot lap after lap until Evans crossed the stripe with a near straightaway lead. Paul came out on top in the battle for second with Freeman finishing third.

Randy Cabral won the 35 lap main event for the NEMA Lites.
