RHEAUME HOLDS OFF CHALLENGES TO WIN IN SWAN SONG; UHRIG SCORES FIRST SPEEDBOWL WIN

WATERFORD – Sean Skinner, Bill Rheaume, and Ben Pollard took off from the Super X-Car field in the early stages, with Skinner setting the pace. On lap 6, trouble with Pollard’s car sent him to the infield as the top two continued to go at it early in the 35 lap special event. The caution flew only once when trouble sidelined Nick Fraulinos machine in a ball of smoke. When the green flag flew, Rheaume got the jump on Skinner and the two rode. Laps clicked down and 2024 Seekonk Pure Stock champion Brent Robidoux worked his t6way into third, taking up Skinners mirror. Skinner made a couple stabs at Rheaume but he couldn’t be faltered. Rheaume picked up the win in his final Super X-Car start, as he announced his intentions to move up to Street Stocks in the 2025 season.

Brandon Plemons made a rare start in the X-Car division, piloting the 9 normally driven by Christian Herman. He was met with some great results as he led the early stages of the race. Dylan Cabral and Sam Mesick slipped in line and rode around nose to tail until catastrophe hit Mesick who found himself in a ball of smoke. After cleanup, the field rolled into turn 1 and when they came out, Plemons left front wheel decided it didn’t want to be attached anymore ending his day in a trail of sparks. 2024 weekly champion Corey Caddick now found himself in the lead as Derek Gluchacki and Cabral dueled for second. Cabral and his Saturn moved into second but Caddick and his Neon was checked out, scoring himself the win in this special event.

Nine Bandoleros took the green flag, but in turn 4 on the first lap disaster hit. Allyha DeSomma found herself facing the wrong direction as the field piled in. Her, Jace Chabers, and Aiden Kimmer’s day finished before it really started. Ryder Augiar led the field back to green with a hard charge from Mason Silva on his outside. Silva would concede the battle and slip into line behind Augiar until lap 6 when he and Nicholas Uhrig went around through the infield. Silva and Nolan Wright took control of the race until the two of them went for a ride. One lap later, Connor Doyon lost control  of his ride as well. Uhrig, now in control of the race, held off some hard charges from Silva who recovered from his earlier spin. Unfortunately, contact resulted in Silva backing it into the wall in some heavy contact. Uhrig led the rest of the event, capturing his first career win at the Speedbowl. Doyon and Augiar recovered to round out the podium.

Gary Byington picked up the win in the season finale for the American Vintage Modifieds with Ben LeVangie in his rearview mirror.

Two more days remain for The Finale 2024! Saturday the Modified Racing Series, NEMA Midgets, and American Three-Quarter Midgets close out their seasons. As well as qualifying for all, and the Open Street Stocks and Seekonk Sport Trucks will compete. Then on Sunday, all seven of our weekly divisions where the day kicks off with a pit party, and will conclude with the 100 lap $5,500 to win SK Modified® main event.
